Dam, that's cool!

So when I touch down in Vegas, I've got about 4 days to see the sights before the NAB Convention actually starts. In those first few days, the big trip to make happen is going to be a visit to The Hoover Dam. The country's largest power plant run by water should make for one hell of a sight to see. We plan on taking the dam tour that brings us deep into the bowels of the power plant, as well as the turbine rooms. Providing it's allowed, you can definitely expect to see pictures of my own posted on here when I'm actually in the dam (or at least once I get back out into cell reception).

Change in Blog Direction

I think I'm going to change the direction of this blog. Ya know, before I become all famous for my ambitious career search, then people lose interest in my new direction (like that will happen...) Anyway, I think my new direction (as inspired by my last post) will include all of the aspects of my up and coming trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Firstly, I guess talking about what the deal with the trip is would be appropriate.

The main purpose of the trip is to attend the National Association of Broadcasters annual convention. I'll be traveling with a few of my good friends and fellow classmates, as well as an instructor from my school. The convention is going to be 4 jam-packed days of checking out the newest gear and technology in the broadcasting industries, lots of hand shaking with industry pioneers, and generally having my mind blown during seminars by people with way more experience and knowledge than I could ever hope to have.

Now in the spirit of full disclosure, I must admit that I won't be going to Vegas just for the convention and networking off the expo floor. The conference is scheduled for 4 days of my stay...which happens to be 9 days, including travel time. The other 4-5 days of my stay will be filled with everything else Sin City has to offer. More on that to come soon!

List Adendum- Vegas, baby!

So in addition to my list I posted yesterday, I've decided to add a few places. In April, I'm attending the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas. I'll hopefully be spending part of the week shaking hands with some people from local venues and other companies based in the city in addition to all the networking I hope to accomplish on the convention floor.

  • MGM Grand
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Vegas House of Blues

The List

So first thing's first for the job search: make a list of potential future employers. I'm graduating in the Live Sound field, and will be looking at a variety of jobs from television broadcast positions to concert technician or engineer. I've compiled a quick list of the top companies I may be interested in talking to in the coming months.

  • Thunder Audio
  • Sound Image
  • Bay Area Ultra Sound
  • Rainbow Productions
  • Disney
  • Claire Bros
  • Meyer Sound
  • Carnival Cruise Lines
  • Norwegian Cruise Lines
  • Auntie M's Audio
  • Center Staging
  • Concert Sound/light
  • Headlight AV
  • Old Firehouse Audio
  • NESN
  • ESPN
  • TD Bank Boston Garden

I have no doubt I'll have more to add to this list in the next couple weeks, but it's a decent place to start for now. Have any ideas for me?

First Post

So I'm in a Social Media Marketing class for school, and I'm going to be exploring the perks of using a blog...This blog is going to be about my life as a college senior, about to graduate and enter the big, bad world of real life employment (or at least that's the plan). I'm going to post updates on my job search, and maybe even ask my readers for some advice about some stuff I'm using during my job search. If there's anything you want me to write about, let me know!
